Car Parking Charges- Christies Hospital Manchester

For anyone who is attending Christies in the near future. The new multi storey car park is now open, with some spaces for patients.

When I attended yesterday you could park for free as the machines are not working yet.

I don't know how long this will last for, but it is a considerable saving for anyone attending while it lasts!

Hello all,

Can I also add to this post to say Macmillan have a pledge for all to sign to abolish hospital parking charges for patients! We seem to have a lot of fights on our hands don't we, but poverty is most likely the hardest one next to fighting cancer! The more people who sign up the better :-)

Also worth being aware that lots of hospitals will give you a 'get out free card' if you produce your blue badge at the pay point. Took me a long time to realise this!

They also need more disabled bays in all hospital car parks.

Hi Jackie

Thanks for this, I hadn't realised Macmillan were running a campaign on car parking for cancer patients.

I have just signed up, below is the link to the macmillan page. It tells you about their campaign and at the bottom just click on 'sign our pledge' and fill in the details.

For anyone attending regularly it can be a huge cost.

Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield has a free car park but very few spaces. As the walk uphill from the Royal Hallamshire car park is too much for my husband at times I usually drop him off then park at the Hallamshire. Unfortunately this means we have to go early for his appointments to give me time to park and join him and then afterwards he waits whilst I go and get the car and pick him up again, resulting in extra car parking fees and even more petrol after a 50 mile round trip! I have just signed the Macmillan pledge mentioned in the previous post.
